Strawberry Field in the community

14th March, 2019

OUR Fresh Expressions Leader, Louise Brown, has been very busy, out and about in the local community, building relationships and finding out about all the great things happening in Woolton, Liverpool.

And, on particularly significant dates Louise and a team of volunteers have been at the gates of Strawberry Field, engaging with and chatting to people from all over the world.

Most recently this saw them handing out around 200 valentine’s cookies to visitors at the gates, in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Louise said: “It’s fantastic to be part of this vibrant community in Woolton and I am so pleased that through Strawberry Field, we are building up so many good relationships and connections.

“A group of us recently attended a taster shared reading session in partnership with The Reader Project, whose national headquarters is at Calderstones Park, right next to Strawberry Field.  We are currently working with The Reader Project to explore ways to meet and connect with more people in our local community.”

Louise has also been working with local churches and now leads monthly prayer meetings on site at Strawberry Field.

She added: “We are extremely thankful to all those people who have been so willing to volunteer and so welcoming to our team already; particularly the local churches and organisations.  We look forward to building up more links in the community and hope that more people would like to get involved.”

If you would like to find out more, including further details on our monthly prayer meetings, please contact Louise by emailing louise.brown@salvationarmy.org.uk

“I truly believe this is a wonderful and important project.”
