The Strawberry Field Community

Strawberry Field is a Christian Community of spiritual exploration, retreat and pastoral care. We provide a place where you can take time to rest and be refreshed in the company of others.

‘We aim to be an inclusive community with God at the centre. Welcoming all to connect, be still, create and grow’

The Centre, and site, is owned and managed by The Salvation Army but you do not have to belong to a Christian church - or any religious tradition at all - to take part in what we offer here. Everyone is welcome.

The Strawberry Field Community is developed and encouraged by what is known as the ‘Fresh Expression’ Team. They create opportunities for those around them to find out more about what it means to explore spirituality and faith.

Major Allister Versfeld, an officer with The Salvation Army, leads the Fresh Expression Team. Working alongside him are Team Members Karen Carter and Joe Doogan.

“The plan to open Strawberry Field to the public for the first time - so people can see a unique exhibition about the home, how and why the song was written by John, and allow visitors to explore the grounds as John did as a child - is very exciting.”
