2020 'People of Peace' award winner

Marie Hargreaves

Marie is a winner in our 2020 'People of Peace' awards.

An extract from Marie's nomination form read: "Marie is quite simply the most inspiring, peaceful and loving Mum and Nana in Liverpool and we can’t think of a more deserving winner of the “People of Peace” award. The minute you meet Marie you can’t fail to be inspired by her ethos and love for helping others. She is selfless beyond words and will always put everyone else before herself."

"Marie is a carer not only for her disabled Grandchild but also for her ex-husband who suffers with dementia. When not caring for these two incredibly important people in her life, Marie has spent lockdown making sure the other members of her family who are shielding have the shopping and essential supplies they need. Marie has an unbelievably strong faith and has always volunteered and spent a huge amount of her time doing this for Prince of Peace - a Catholic lay community."

Lady Anne Dodd says:

"Well MH, that’s all we knew about you when we were doing the judging! Marie you are the most inspiring, peaceful and loving mum…I see you have a strong faith and I am sure this has helped you throughout these difficult times. So, many congratulations, you really deserve this People of Peace Award, well done!"

“The plan to open Strawberry Field to the public for the first time - so people can see a unique exhibition about the home, how and why the song was written by John, and allow visitors to explore the grounds as John did as a child - is very exciting.”
