'A Day in the Life': The legacy of the Sgt Pepper record sleeve

31st May, 2017

The Salvation Army was honoured to be the beneficiary of ‘A Day in the Life of event’, hosted by the Hard Day’s Night Hotel and presented by Bluecoat.

Guests learned about the legacy of the Sgt Pepper record sleeve as Bryan Biggs, Artistic Director of the Bluecoat gave an illustrated talk about the many parodies of the Pepper design from record covers to Christmas cards.

The event was held as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Sgt Pepper album with guests enjoying the unique surroundings of the world’s only Beatles inspired hotel.

The Salvation Army is delighted to have the support of the Hard Day’s Night Hotel as it works towards opening the gates again at Strawberry Field.

“The plan to open Strawberry Field to the public for the first time - so people can see a unique exhibition about the home, how and why the song was written by John, and allow visitors to explore the grounds as John did as a child - is very exciting.”
